Gangotri Kedarnath Gaumukh Yatra

Day 01: Delhi – Haridwar drive (210 Km/6 hrs)

Morning after breakfast drive to Haridwar. Arrive Haridwar and check into hotel. In the evening, visit the har ki pauri to see the “Arati” at bank of Ganges.

Day 02: Haridwar – Gangotri drive (275 Km/8 hrs)

Early morning after breakfast drive to Gangotri. Arrive Gangotri and check into hotel.

Gangotri Temple: The temple, constructed by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th Century, is situated on the right bank of Bhagirathi. Submerged Shivling: Submerged in the river, this natural rock Shivling is the place where, according to mythology Lord Shiva sat when he received the Ganga in his matted lock. It is visible in winter months when water level decreases.

Gaumukh: The Gaumukh Glacier is the source of Bhagirathi & is held in the high esteem by the devout that do not miss the opportunity to have a holy dip in the BONE CHILLING icy water. It is 14 km (one side) from Gangotri by trek.

Day 03: Gangotri – Chirbasa – Bhojbasa 3800m mts.

An easy walk (14 Km trek). We progress along a picturesque trail initially passes through dense deodar forests before emerging into the wide unforested valley. It then carries on to a small isolated forest of pine at Chirbases, literally the abode of pines.

Day 04: Bhojbasa – Gaumukh (3900m) – Bhojbasa 10 Km in 4h

Trek to Gaumukh, source of the Ganges, the scenery is fascinating, with praying pilgrims and half-naked saddhus meditating along the banks of the tumultuous stream that pours out of the glacier. From here the panoramic view over Shivling (6540m) and the Bhaghirati massifs (above 6500m) is stunning. It is not surprising that saddhus chose this area to meditate in summer time.

Day 05: Bhojbasa – Gangotri Trek – 100 Km drive Uttarkashi

Trek back to Gangotri and drive to Uttarakashi. On arrival Uttarkashi transfer to hotel.

Day 06: Uttarkashi – GuariKund drive (235 Km/7 hrs)

Morning drive to Guarikund. Arrive & check into hotel.
Gaurikund: At a distance of 5kms from Sonprayag and at an altitude of 1982 meters. One can take bath in the hot water pond here and visit the Gauri Temple. This is the place where Goddess Parvati meditated to attain Lord Shiva. It is the base for a trek to Kedarnath.

Day 07: Guarikund – Kedarnath (14 Km trek)

Start you 14 km yatra to Kedarnath. Arrive Kedarnath and check into hotel.

Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva, the protector and the destroyer. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull.

On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Day 08: Kedarnath – Gaurikund (14 Km trek)– Rudraprayag drive (90 Km/4 hrs)Rishikesh Laxman Jhula

Morning after visiting the temple, trek down to Gaurikund. Arrive Gaurikund and drive to Rudraprayag.

Rudraprayag: It is the confluence of river Mandakini and river Alaknanda. Temples: Rudranath and Chamunda Devi, Koteshwar Temple

Day 09: Rudraprayag – Rishikesh drive (120 Km/4 hrs)

Morning drive to Rishikesh. Arrive Rishikesh and check into hotel. Rishikesh is surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three sides with Holy Ganga flowing through it.

Located in the laps of lower Himalayas, this place is considered to be the access point of three other pilgrim places of Badrinath – Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Rishikesh is famous for its yoga sessions that are taught here by many yoga experts (yoga fair held annually in February).

Day 10: Rishikesh – Delhi drive (235 Km/6 hrs)

Morning drive to Delhi via Haridwar. (End of services)
